So I have been meaning to do this for about a year now but I thought better late than never. I hope I keep updating this every time you does something I want to remember but I know that isn't practical. I promise to do my best and hope you will get a kick out of this someday.
Scratching my head for my earliest memories of you, I can think of a couple of good stories when you were less than one month old:
- The first time I got to feed you. If you can read between the lines, my role in feeding you was limited until you went to solid foods. However, when you were about a week or two old, I got to feed you a five oz bottle. I was very proud of myself for getting you to drink the whole thing. That lasted for about ten seconds when someone said that I should take a break every couple of ounces. Immediately after they said it, you regurgitated all five ounces on me. Live and learn.
- Another favorite story is the very first time I got to see you. Your mother had to have an emergency c-section but fortunately I was able to be in the operating room. The doctors told me to stand up to see you but I tried deferring so your mother and I could see you together for the first time. After getting berated for 30 seconds to stand up, I agreed and got my first look at you. You were blue and not breathing. Your mommy asked me how he looked, I told her "great!"...fortunately I was wearing a mask and she was heavily sedated and exhausted so my fear was hidden.
Love you Colby,
-Dad
