Hi Colby:
A couple of weeks ago, the Cubs won the World Series! (Didn't know if I could write that in my lifetime) You and I went to Dave & Busters to watch the game:
I was so glad to experience that with you. You are such a huge fan that you even decorated your turkey like a Cubs player and named his "Rizzo".
Love you so much,
Dad
Ps: Here is a picture of you and your little brother to be as a Cubs fan. :)

Fall Baseball!
Dear Colby:
This Fall (2016), you played Fall baseball in the Villa Park league. Your improvement from Spring to Fall was amazing! You went from not being able to reach the plate while pitching to striking out batters, for example:
Last night you played the last game of the season. You got the last at bat and doubled in the last two runs of the year (I think they were go ahead runs but we were not keeping good score). Here is a picture of you running the bases after the game:
I am so proud of you!
Love,
Dad
Ps: Good line you had the other day. Colby: "Kelsey, can you tie my shoe for me?" Kelsey, I am little busy but you are capable of tying it yourself." Colby: "Ok, well how about tying my other shoe for me?" I laughed out loud at that one.
Also, for good measure pictures from the Hawks training camp (you got Bobby Hull's autograph):

Big Brother to Be!
Colby:
Recently, we informed you of your little brother to be. You have been really cute at how excited you are to be a big brother. Here is a picture of you in the shirt to let your aunts/uncles and cousins know:
So proud of you! Also, last month we took another Thompson family trip to Branson MO. To my surprise, you went on a fast roller coaster! Though after doing "Powder Keg" and "Fire in the Hole", you wouldn't do anymore. I guess 0-60 for a 7-year old is a bit much! :)
You are growing up too fast though. Love you - Dad
Pics from the trip:
Last one is your 7th birthday party at Boomers Stadium.

Thanks!
Colby:
The other day you walked up to me, gave me a big hug, and then said "you're the best daddy ever!" Completely melted my heart. Thank you!
This year I had the privilege of being one of your little league coaches. Can't wait to do it again next year! See some pics below (the grin from your trophy picture is after you made a loud toot).
Also, below are some fun pictures from our annual Father's Day trip to the college world series. We had a great time despite your gators going "two and BBQ". :)
Love,
Dad

Insult to Injury?
Colby:
The other day we were discussing a potential bullying situation at school. Let me preface this with that everything was fine and it was just boys being boys. Anyways, you listed three things as problems / issues you had with Myles. First, you said he hit you in the head with a chair. Then, he was pushing a table into your stomach and it hurt. I asked you, ok what was a third thing? You said, oh, he's a Packer fan! Really was hard for me not to burst out laughing at that one.
Update on the situation, you and Myles have worked out your issues and are getting along just fine.
Couple of pics from the last week. First is after you lost your tooth and had crazy Blue and Red hair to support the Cubs! Second, is you getting really excited for little league and having to wear your jersey the night you got it.
Love you,
Dad

Colby the Sportswriter!
Hi Colby:
Your kindergarten class decided to create its own newspaper. According to you, you were randomly chosen to be the sports editor (I think they knew how much you love sports). Here is your first sports write-up:

I loved how you started with "Jay Cutler needs to be traded." For the record that was not from me!...though few people have argued that to be wrong to me. :)
I am so proud of you!
Love,
Dad
Ps: Just cause I think it is a cute picture, here is a photo of you at the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo:

Merry Christmas 2015
Colby:
Christmas morning this year you woke up really excited. You ran downstairs and shouted "Santa came, I was a good boy! Santa Came!" It was really cute and so fun. You received some great Star Wars stuff this year and a giant Iron Man toy. Also, Santa gave you a fun toy that I loved when I was your age "Pin Art." Here is a picture:
Merry Christmas 2015!
Love,
Dad
Ps: You also got attend your first Blackhawks game in December too. You saw Patrick Kane extend his points steak to 26 games, modern day record! Hawks won Hjarmalsson to 0 (4-0) and you were so excited and into the game. We stayed for the whole game (including warm ups). Here are pictures from the game:
